Book Review: Stella in Stilettos by Jan Romes

Hi all,

If you follow my reviews at all, you already know that I am a big fan of author Jan Romes. She writes the most entertaining romance novels that are fun, sexy, and charming. I just finished reading her latest novel, STELLA IN STILETTOS, and enjoyed it immensely. Here is more about Jan's new book and my 5 star review.

Book Description:

~ Sometimes you have to break the rules; sometimes you have to break them wearing stilettos ~

Stella Matson has had it with handsome guys who schmooze their way into a woman's heart and walk out the door when they get a better offer. As far as she's concerned, she needs to focus on the one thing that won't leave her teary-eyed on a Friday night - her job with the lingerie company. That plan goes horribly awry when drop-dead gorgeous, Alex Clay, is temporarily assigned to her department. He frustrates and excites her, turns her into a klutz, and she's afraid her heart is in real danger once again.

Alex Clay is restless and trying to find his place in the business world. His boss seems to be grooming him for big things by giving him a taste of everything from the mailroom to the boardroom. When he does a short stint in the advertising department and meets hardheaded but intriguing, Stella Matson, she challenges his convictions and stirs an unwanted desire. He doesn't know whether to kiss her until they're both breathless, or find a new job.

Will Stella and Alex act on the attraction sizzling between them? Or will they extinguish it with doubt, mistrust, and a belief that they shouldn't get involved with someone they work with?

My 5 Star Review:

Stella Matson is a no-nonsense type of woman who works hard and is trying to get over a recent heartbreak. She is up for a promotion at work from an ungrateful boss, that is until the new guy – a hottie – comes into the picture. And as much as Stella wants to ignore this too perfect man, she can't help but be attracted to him.

Alex Clay isn't in the advertising department to take away anyone's job or to fall in love, but when he meets Stella, his heart goes into overdrive. Even though women throw themselves at him daily, he finds he only has eyes for Stella. Stella, however, isn’t the easiest heart to conquer, leaving Alex frustrated and still wanting more.

Stella in Stilettos is the latest funny and heartfelt romance by author Jan Romes. It's witty, charming, and full of fun and romance. You can't go wrong with a novel by Jan Romes - they are all entertaining and delightful – and Stella in Stilettos is no exception.

I hope you'll try this novel by Jan or any of her other fun novels. Check out my reviews for:

Cover Reveal - Maggie's Turn

Hi all,

I'm excited to share the new cover for my next novel, MAGGIE'S TURN. Deborah at Tugboat Design created this cover for me, just as she has created covers for all of my novels. I just love it! The colors are beautiful. If all goes well, MAGGIE'S TURN will be available on Amazon Kindle August 1, 2013. I will also be creating a paperback version of this novel as well.

MAGGIE'S TURN is a contemporary women's fiction/family drama novel.

Book Description:

Sometimes you just have to walk away…to rediscover who you are.

Maggie Harrison is a devoted wife and mother, always putting the needs of her family ahead of her own. Then, one day, without planning to, she drives away, leaving behind an indifferent husband and two sulking teenagers. Maggie goes off on a quest of self-exploration, enjoying adventures, meeting new people, and rediscovering her passions. For the first time in years, she dreams about what she wants out of life, and she realizes that her deteriorating marriage can no longer continue as it is. Can she and Andrew repair their floundering relationship, or is their marriage over?

Andrew Harrison likes his life to be in perfect order. He enjoys his work and status in the community, leaving Maggie to take care of everything at home. He knows his marriage isn't perfect. But after twenty-three years and two kids, whose marriage is? When Maggie leaves without a word, he is forced to start paying more attention to his home life and his almost grown children, and he begins to do a little self-exploration of his own. Slowly, he begins to understand what drove Maggie away, and how important she is in his life. Is it too late to resolve their differences and save their marriage? Or will Andrew lose Maggie forever?

The first chapter of MAGGIE'S TURN can be read here.
